By David Dennis
I bought these for my commuter/excercise bicycle, mainly because everyone kept telling me how great cleats are and I'm planning on getting a real live road bike down the road and I thought I may as well get used to them. These appeared to be a good choice. They have a cage so that when you just need to make a short jaunt, you don't have to clip in and scrape up the local donut shop's floor. I really like them, the tension adjustment is simple and sets from very easy to almost impossible to get out of. I keep mine pretty loose so I can snap out easy enough. Got the Shimano M087GE's MTB/Touring shoes to ride with them and they work great. One caveat, the cage doesn't stop you from feeling the spring area where you snap in (I don't know what that's called yet!) when your wearing your New Balance sneakers to the store. So I don't think I would ride more than a couple of miles like that myself, but it's convenient and I like the cleats, I think they're a good introduction to clipless riding.
